Facilities
Genomics and Sequencing
Our genomic lab employs advanced techniques such as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and microarray platforms to assess genetic susceptibility to a specific phenotype for various GI diseases including chronic pancreatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and dysregulated tumor pathways in colorectal cancers in Indians. Additionally, our research efforts are being focused on identifying markers to predict treatment responses and determine individuals who are less likely to respond to standard treatment and may require alternative/altered drug/dosage.
Pharmacogenomics and Precision medicine lab
AHF has shifted the paradigm of precision medicine in different therapeutic domains with their successful efforts to clinically implement pharmacogenetics. The pharmacogenetics department at AHF screens the variants of each patient’s drug-responsive genes to deliver precise medication based on the genetic make-up of the individual, serving the major goal of precision medicine.
Translational and Biomaterial Research Lab
The translational and biomaterial research lab at AHF is specially designed to identify and address the unmet clinical needs by creating new scientific breakthroughs in biomaterials. We aim to develop safe and effective medical devices/products to improve the quality of healthcare for patients. Currently our main focus lies in developing natural proteinaceous devices and materials for the treatment of diabetes and esophageal regeneration.
Areas of focus
Certified GMP Lab
GMP lab is dedicated to manufacturing high-quality, harmless, cellular products which are used in clinical trials conducted by highly experienced investigators at AIG Hospitals in collaboration with AHF. GMP facility is certified to manufacture autologous mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow and placental tissues which can be used for clinical trials upon regulatory approvals
Animal Labs
AHF is equipped with two CPCSEA (Committee for control and supervision of experiments on animals) approved animal labs: A small laboratory-animal holding facility and a large animal-study teaching facility (Basic Skill Labs). The animal labs are managed by experienced research personnel with expertise in the field of basic research, animal experiments and animal husbandry.

Tissue Banking
We have a dedicated tissue banking facility for the acquisition, processing, and storage of human tissues, cells, and blood samples for scientific research purposes. A variety of tissues are preserved with optimal preservational dispositions under strict protocols.

DBT Wellcome India Alliance Lab
DBT Wellcome India Alliance supports Dr Talukdar, Director of the Pancreas Clinic with a Senor Fellowship to conduct microbiome research in pancreatic diseases. His lab has key collaborators including medical institutions and government bodies. We have gained national and international grants for our research projects, with extensive scope for the development of novel treatment approaches for pancreatic diseases.

Flow-Cytometry Lab
AHF’s flow-cytometry lab is located within the central instrumentation facility with advanced flow-cytometry equipment and technologies including multiple laser systems, detectors, and multi-parametric data analysis systems. These technologies provide high-dimensional cellular data for application in the fields of immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, virology, and infectious diseases.

Molecular Biology Labs
Our molecular biology labs are designed for an extensive range of scientific research at a cellular and molecular level to understand structural and functional biological processes. A wide array of cellular mechanisms and interactions are explored including basic cellular biology, stem cell biology, neurobiology, protein & nucleic acid chemistry, epigenetic regulation, genomics, and infection biology. Our interdisciplinary team of scientists conduct a broad range of molecular studies to determine the fundamental principles of biological processes with potential for medical significance. This helps us address key health challenges with novel technologies for diagnosing and treating various diseases.
Central Instrumentation Facility
AHF has a full-fledged, in-house central instrumentation facility equipped with high-end instrumentation for multiple scientific testing areas, which are constantly upgraded based on the latest technological advancements. Our central instrumentation facility supports simple to complex analyses for existing and emerging fields of medicine. The facility is run and managed by our highly qualified scientists and associated technicians increasing the efficiency of research, and meeting the modern-day research requirements.
